PORTopera to continue hosting Metropolitan Opera live HD broadcasts in South Portland and Brunswick.

PORTopera has once again been invited to host the Metropolitan Opera Live HD broadcasts at the Cinemagic Theater at Clark's Pond in South Portland and the Regal at Cook's Corner in Brunswick. PORTopera representatives will be present at all ten broadcasts during the coming season at Clark's Pond and most of them at Cook's Corner, sharing with other organizations.

The company sees its presence at these broacasts as opportunities to meet potential new patrons of PORTopera and to greet "regulars." They also provide a means of keeping attendees informed about current and future PORTopera programs, particularly those dealing with the company's 20th anniversary in 2014.

The schedule of operas is:
October 5, Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky
October 26, The Nose by Shostakovich
November 9, Tosca by Puccini
December 14, Falstaff by Verdi
February 8, Rusalka by Dvorak
March 1, Prince Igor by Borodin
March 15, Werther by Massenet
April 5, La Boheme by Puccini
April 26, Cosi fan tutte by Mozart
May 10, La Cenerentola by Rossini

Most broadcasts begin at 1:00, but check local listings or the MET HD website www.metopera.org/HD.

Tickets can be purchased on the website or at the theaters.

If you would like to join the hosts as a volunteer, contact the PORTopera office at 879-7678.
