Maine's Emerging Artists Program Auditions
February 17th


Auditions for PORTopera's Maine's Emerging Artists program will be held on Sunday, February 17, at the Immanuel Baptist Church at 156 High Street in Portland, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Applicants should download the application at our website at www.portopera.org. Completed application materials (application form, resume, headshot, and cd/dvd/vhs recording) should be submitted to PORTopera, MEA auditions, P.O. Box 7733, Portland, ME, 04112, by February 8, 2008. Applicants who are selected for an audition should be prepared to sing two arias, one in English. An accompanist will be provided. MEA participants will perform a short opera in English at five venues in Maine and New Hampshire in June and July, 2008. Rehearsals begin in early June. MEA participants will also perform in the Chorus of PORTopera's production of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette and may be considered for comprimario roles. Roméo et Juliette will be presented at the Merrill Auditorium on July 24 and 26, 2008.
