PORTopera will hold auditions for the Chorus of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette on Saturday, February 16, at the Immanuel Baptist Church at 156 High Street in Portland, starting at 11:00 a.m. Applications can be completed on site. This opera has a large chorus of 20 men and 20 women. Candidates should be prepared to perform two songs or arias, one in French, if possible. An accompanist will be provided. Performance dates for Roméo et Juliette are July 24 and 26, 2008, at the Merrill Auditorium in Portland, ME. Music rehearsals begin June 2, 2008. Staging rehearsals begin July 1, 2008.
